Teacher Tip: White Board Pen Leash
The Teacher Problem
I don’t know about you, but my classroom whiteboard is my everything. I use it from the minute my students enter the classroom till they leave.
My problem isn’t so much the device but my ability to keep it intact.
The problem I have with this gem of an educational device is entirely my own. I lose my pen every time I set it down, and without the pen, you can’t do anything.
Can you relate?
On the other hand, if I’m not misplacing it, I’m dropping it. I’ve watched several pens explode as they land on my floor and separate into a million plastic pieces.
The Teacher Solution
After breaking or losing several, I located a piece of string that could withstand the constant tugging. Luckily, a fishing line spool was in my supply closet.
Yes, fishing line. I use this sturdy clear string to hang everything in my classroom. Here is how it works:
- Tie the fishing line around the arm that holds the projector.
- Loop the string around the pen with a double knot.
- Crazy glue the string to the pen to make sure it would stay.
Keep in mind that the length of the line is essential. It will still hit the floor if it is too long, and a too-short string won’t reach the pen holders.
